Arizona Plunge-N-Run Done!

When Karen and I put together the Arizona Plunge-N-Run we were thinking one thing:  Make it Tough!

From the look on most of your faces, we accomplished our goal – and it wasn’t easy on us either!  We spent nearly 5 hours every Friday for the past few weeks trying to carve out a 5 mile course.  We discovered packs of coyotes, a lone rattlesnake, flies that bite, and bushes that attack.  The people who compete in events around here just have to be tougher and this was our event to honor that toughness.

We want the Arizona Plunge-N-Run to become a ‘cult’ classic.  A race that becomes known for it’s toughness and a test of every participant.  What does that mean?  Well, that means when it comes to putting this event together we’ll be planning it as a test of determination and athleticism and not as a, “Awww, that’ll be a comfortable jog…”  Best of all, this race has inspired us to organize another trail-based race; we simply had no idea there were so many of you that love the challenge of trail races.  And we certainly have A LOT of challenging trails around Lake Havasu City.

If you competed in the race, as always, we would love to get your feedback on what we can do to make this race more exciting, tougher, more fun, and interesting.

Sponsorship Info is Online

Up until now, the Havasu Half Marathon was new and untested, and our sponsorship opportunities were reserved to organizations coming to us and saying, “Hey, we have an idea…” Last year, several organizations came to us and expressed interest in our sponsorship packages – there was one problem, we really didn’t have any defined… In the previous years, we were so focused on putting together this amazing event we didn’t make time to sit down and define sponsorship levels and figure out how their participation would fit into the overall event.

I’m starting a new tradition; shortly after every Havasu Half Marathon & 5K we’ll post a new website for the event.  It’s something we’ve actually been doing since our inaugural year – but it was something that happened out of necessity not out of design – from now on, we’ll do it just because we can…
